Before the Forest Ranch Community Association was actually established, it was formed by the Women’s Club and known as the Forest Ranch Community Club in the 1960’s (minutes of meetings have been lost). On June 16, 1980 the first general meeting of Forest Ranch residents was held at the Fire Station with the express purpose of forming a community association.
Ivan Cunningham, acting as temporary chairman, introduced special guests: Hilda Wheeler, Supervisor of the 3rd District; Dr. Frank Bennett & Nina Lambert of the Butte County Planning Commission; Dan Blackstock, representing the Butte County Council; Chuck White & Roy & Mrs. Aletto of the Cohasset Community Council. He noted that Hilda Wheeler and other public officials had encouraged the efforts to form an organization. Also acknowledged were approximately thirty people who either worked on a committee and/or attended meetings to set up the association.
Gene Rolls was elected (temporary) Chairman. He immediately asked for volunteers to set up a committee to develop by-laws. Chamion Nelson, Margaret Bomberg, Bill Burch, Noel Williams and Claud Willis were recruited.
Appreciation was expressed to the Women’s Club and the Cohasset Community Association for helping make the formation of the Forest Ranch Community Association a success.
In 1984 the FRCA was incorporated as a Non Profit Agency (#94-2779864).
The By-Laws continue to be reviewed and updated. The latest revision was done in the 2007-2008 term.
This summary was based on the notes from Charmion Nelson & Elizabeth James.
